Does Child Sponsorship Have An Impact?

by Jeremy on June 15, 2013

Does Child Sponsorship WorkOur partner ministry, Partners in Action, specializes in reaching out to children and families in impoverished countries. Working with them we have often promoted child sponsorship as well as seen the effects of child sponsorships in the lives of the children we worked with.

Our vision is to feed, clothe, educate, raise, and give hope and a future to hundreds of thousands of widows and orphans through the love of Jesus Christ, thus living out the Gospel. The demonstration of this work will result in an awakening of the love for serving others by the Spirit of God causing a revival in the Body of Christ.

You may have wondered (as we often have to be honest) if such a small amount of money can make a difference in a child’s life and a recent academic study has shown that it does have an effect. In fact the study shows that sponsorship has a significant effect in the lives of children.

You can read the article about the study in Christianity today here.

If you don’t want to read the article, I’ll tell what the amazing conclusion is that it is not so much the money that makes the difference but hope.

The big difference that sponsorship makes is that it expands children’s views about their own possibilities. Many of these children don’t think they are capable of much. We help them realize that they are each given special gifts from God to benefit their communities, and we try to help them develop aspirations for their future.

We all know that throwing money at a problem rarely solves it, but when you combine Bible based stewardship with sound Biblical teaching on hope you can make a significant difference in the live of a child. Partners in Action is unique in it’s approach in that they do not take a commision on any donation, if you give $1, $1 will arrive at the project you designate.
